Becoming Mrs. Carey – decisions-decisions

Wedding planning is not for the faint of heart – for sure.   Everytime I turn around, I think of another decision I have to make.  eeekkk!!

I think we have a pretty good start on stuff – We have a date…haha.   We actually booked a venue right after Christmas.  Its so pretty, and I wrote about it in another blog post here – Palmetto CollegiateWe booked a DJ too (woo hoo Ronny!), and I have my wedding dress.

I met with & booked our photographer, and I could not be more thrilled about it! I am looking forward to working with Andrea Fabian from Trevor Mercer Photography.   Trevor has shot a few weddings at our venue, so I know he can give Andrea some great insight.  She also is a USC grad and after our initial meeting, I felt so at ease with her.  I look forward to having her around that day as I get ready, and throughout the day.

I have sent out emails for catering, and have a general idea in my head of what we want for food. Think southern fare y’all – for those that live close to Lexington, I have 1 word for you – Shealy’s.  We are still debating that though, so don’t get too happy.  However, if you want to go to Shealy’s – I’m happy to go with anyone who wants to make the drive!

I have some solid idess on flowers & decorations, thanks to Pinterest and the last dozen or so events I have worked at Seibel’s House.  We have a color scheme as well, which we needed in order to get the bridesmaids dresses (navy & blush pink if you are wondering)

I’m trying to not worry about the rehearsal dinner, and just letting Jake worry with that.  Same with what the guys are wearing (and who the guys even are!).  Its hard though, because I just want to nail down decisions like…right now. Grooms cake?  Yep, not even thinking about that at all either.  Of course every time I see the words “grooms cake” all I think about is this scene from Steel Magnolias:

“It’s repulsive! It’s got gray icing! I can’t even begin to think how you make gray icing!  Worse the cake part is red velvet cake. Blood red!! People are gonna be hackin’ into this poor animal that looks like it’s bleedin’ to death.”
We are going to be ordering the invitations this weekend, and my matron of honor Laura graciously volunteered to help me with those.    Those are a bit more formal than our fun Save the Dates.  They also play off our color scheme, and one of my favorite bible verses.

I feel like everything is coming together, its just with all the house stuff,  Jonathan playing baseball and work – I feel a little crazy sometimes.  I feel like I make a lot of lists, which can be a good & bad thing.  The list helps slow the crazy some though!
