I learned from a very wise Marine Corps wife that we never say goodbye, it always “see ya laters” or “toodles”. Today is a sad day for me. I have to say “toodles’ to one of the best people ever put into my life – my “boss” Shanna.
Words cannot tell you how much I am going to miss her beautiful face every.single.freaking.day – seriously. Shanna and I started a few weeks apart here at USC, and she has become a wonderful friend to me. Shanna, I love you – I know you are moving on to do something you are so crazy passionate about, and I could not be happier for you. I told once someone that you were my person – not that I’ve taken to quoting Grey’s Anatomy now, but seriously – ever need a dead body hidden – I’m your girl.
The problem is today, I don’t know how to say thank you…
For every giggle and every tear.
For singing at the top of our lungs to Zac Brown songs, giant bites of BBQ sandwiches, getting lost, and “Shanna PAY ATTENTION!”
For every text & phone call after I got told “no” (AGAIN!) – for every time you had to listen to me whine (because lets face it, I did a lot of whining in that 2 month stretch). For every pep talk, for every time you told me to just “be patient”, “don’t force it”, “let it be on his terms”, “fight the urge to spaz out” or “you got this, don’t forget to see the bigger picture” – as much as I hated it all, I needed it all. You saw that and made sure that I listened – every single time. You are one amazing friend and I am blessed to have you in my life!
“your boyfriend basically ruffied her, but with vodka”
“whatever they are doing outside is completely unsafe”
“this is a total shit show”
“oh, ya know, just living the dream”
“I think I’m going to have a migraine tomorrow”
“I can’t, I just can’t today”
“I’m just here for the tacos”
“Celebrate the win”
“Do you need a mentor? No, I think I just need a life coach”
For softball games, for allowing my son to cover your bulletin board in photos, for all the hugs, for all the tears I’m going to shed today.
Thank you and I love you!
