Well, we went out last Sunday to see the Brothers of the Sun tour at the Georgia Dome!  I won tickets from Kicks 101.5, the local country station on the way home from SC after Memorial Day weekend.  I had NEVER been to a concert before, EVER – and school choral concerts don’t count!   This was the chance of a lifetime to see Jake Owen, Grace Potter, Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney.

I was so excited to take my friend Wyndi with me, she has been a dear friend for a long time and I was excited to call her on Friday and say “hey girl, you are my date for KENNY!!”.  She loves Kenny!    We got there early and hit the Kicks 101.5 party and filled out some tickets for upgraded seats (which we didn’t get), and got some awesome coastal punch!   We then met up with my friends Kim & Kecia (crazy 1 & crazy 2) and walked around the parking lot.  We met up with the No Shoes Radio crew (as in, we stalked them around the lots), saw all the tailgaters and then also took photos with the NSR crew!

When it was time, we headed inside & got a beer and found out they had changed our seats.  We were no longer on the upper endzone, we were on the upper sideline!  Closer to the stage, so I was happy.

We settled in for Jake Owen and he was great!  Grace Potter & the Nocturnals came up next, and honestly I didn’t enjoy her performance.  Something was “off” – her audio or the feedback/echo in the dome.   We chose that moment to go potty and find a snack.   We had awesome “section mates” right next to & in front of us.  However, at least 8 people from our section got arrested, which was some entertainment in itself!

Tim came on after Grace and he was AMAZING!   We saw him walking to the stage from the tunnel, while the video monitors followed him live at foot level, which was cool!   We sang along with every song, and danced, only sitting down a few times during his slower songs.  He sangaround 15 songs.  His last song was a new one called “Truck Yeah” that got the crowd going!  It also showcased his awesome band.

We had been told before the show that Kenny’s first song was “Beer in Mexico” and to not look at the stage.   He popped up in the middle on a turning platform, then hopped into a basket and sang as he flew over the crowd before being deposited onto the stage.  It was incredible!   He sang 21 songs, and again we sang along to every one and danced.  My person favorite song was “Where I come from” and my absolute favorite was “Come over” (reminds me of someone!).  Kenny started talking about having friends in every town and sometimes those friends come and play with him, and out walks ZAC BROWN!  The crowd went nuts for Atlanta’s own Zac Brown, I mean seroiusly – this was the HIGHLIGHT of the show!
He did sing his duet “You & Tequila” with Grace Potter, which was great!  Her audio was much better then!  They sang it acoustic, and it was really good.

Overall a fabulous night, and killer for my first concert.  Totally worth the sunburn we got at the preshow party, and the lack of sleep (I hit the bed at 1:30am)…and I am so glad I got to go!

One Response to “we went out last night….”

  1. WOW! What a great show…If there are 4 people in the country industry I’d want to hear, they’d be Jake, Kenny, Tim and Zac. (Don’t you love how I used their first names like I know ‘em or something?) Lucky you!
